Earlier, via social media, the Malayalam actor-director-producer sought a name for his football team that reflects the “spirit of the city” and “describes what they are”.

About Super League Kerala

Forca Kochi FC is among the six teams that will participate in the inaugural season of Super League Kerala, scheduled to begin in late August this year. The teams hail from Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kannur districts.

Super League Kerala has been structured in the format of European football leagues. The tournament will be held at four stadiums in the state and have foreign players as well.

After acquiring stakes in the team, Prithviraj said, “The inaugural season of the League would significantly boost football activities at both professional and grassroots levels in football-enthusiastic Kerala.”

The Aadujeevitham actor also stated that the football league would create numerous opportunities for deserving and upcoming players.

Meanwhile, Mathew Joseph, the CEO of Super League Kerala, felt that the actor’s involvement would inspire and energise the youth who are passionate about football.

Supriya Menon said her involvement aims to inspire more female sports enthusiasts to attend the matches live at the stadiums.

On the work front, Prithviraj Sukumaran is shooting for his third directorial, Empuraan, a sequel to Mohanlal’s superhit film Lucifer. The team is in Gujarat for the shoot.
