'Vaazha' to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from 23 September. (Facebook)
The latest Malayalam blockbuster, Vaazha-Biopic of a Billion Boys, is all set to make its OTT debut. The movie will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar on 23 Monday. It will be available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages.
Released in theatres on 15 August, Vaazha became a super hit by surpassing Jeethu Joseph’s Nunakuzhi, headlined by Basil Joseph and Grace Antony.
It is based on the lives of a group of boys who are backbenchers in school. The film follows the journey of these schoolboys as they grow up together.
A wholesome entertainer, Vaazha addresses toxic parenting and also captures the lives of teenagers with elements of comedy in it. Realistic presentation and relatability played major roles in the success of the movie.
Vaazha was helmed by director Anand Menen, who debuted with Gauthamante Radham (2020).
The Malayalam movie stars Jeomon Jyothir, Saaf Boy, Hashiree, Anuraj, and Amith Mohan Rajeswari in the main roles. Kottayam Nazeer, Siju Sunny (of Romancham fame), Noby Marcose, Basil Joseph, and Azees Nedumangad played crucial roles in it.
Its screenplay was written by director Vipin Das, who helmed the superhit films Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022) and Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil (2024).

The humungous success prompted the makers to announce the second part, titled Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros. However, it will be helmed by debutant director Suvin SA.
Vaazha 2 will be produced by Vipin Das, Harris Desom, PB Anish, Adarsh Narayan, and Icon Cinemas. It’s written by Vipin Das, who also penned the script for the first part. The second part retains the same team.
Announcing the sequel. Vipin Das stated that the response to Vaazha inspired the team to work with fresh talents again. Vaazha 2 will feature Hashir, Alan, Ajin, and Vinayak.
