Nivin Pauly’s web series ‘Pharma’ to premiere at IFFI

'Pharma' follows the struggle of a middle-class boy who joins the pharmaceutical industry as a medical representative in his 20s.

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is set to make his OTT debut with the web series Pharma. The series will soon premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar.

Ahead of its online release, the web series directed by PR Arun is set to premiere at the 55th International Film Festival of India happening in Goa from 20 to 28 November. Pharma will premiere on Wednesday, 27 November in Goa.

According to the IFFI Goa website, the series Pharma follows the struggle of a middle-class boy who joins the pharmaceutical industry as a medical representative in his 20s.

His struggle to understand the rules of the game, his growing through the ranks in his 30s where his fate intertwines with a crusader against corruption in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr Rajiv Rao and how it changes the lives of a few others as well.

And their battle to make medicines affordable for the common man through the availability of generic drugs becomes an inspiration for the whole country.

Apart from Nivin Pauly, the film also stars Rajit Kapur, Narain, Sruthy Ramachandran, Veena Nandakumar, Aalekh Kapur, and Muthumani.

DOP Abinandhan Ramanujam is handling the cinematography for the series. Jakes Bejoy has composed the songs and the original score. Sreejith Sarang handles the editing. The project is bankrolled by Krishnan Sethukumar, under the banner Moviee Mill Production.

Other series at IFFI

Apart from Pharma, another Telugu web series Vikkatakavi also premiered at the IFFI. The series will then be available for a wider audience on the OTT platform ZEE 5.

The series is set against the backdrop of 1970s Telangana and follows the journey of Ramakrishna, a young detective. The storyline centres on a small village where residents mysteriously begin losing their memories. Ramakrishna, also known as Vikkatakavi, steps in to uncover the mystery.

The series is produced by Ram Talluri of SRT Entertainments and directed by Pradeep Maddali. The lead roles are played by Naresh Agastya and Megha Akash.
