Despite the mixed responses, Tovino Thomas’ Nadikar witnessed an impressive worldwide collection on Day 1.
In a statement released on Saturday, 4 May, the makers revealed that the Malayalam film collected around ₹ 5.39 crore at the global box office. The film was released on over 1,000 screens worldwide.
Nadikar was produced by Mythri Movie Makers and God Speed Productions.
According to the Sacnilk tracking website, the Tovino Thomas-starrer earned a gross of ₹1.55 crore in India on day 1.
Nadikar also registered a good collection on the opening day in cities like Bengaluru and Chennai.
The comedy scenes in the flick evoked good laughter in theatres. The emotions, especially in the second half, tugged at the heartstrings of the viewers.
Tovino is drawing praise for his splendid performance as a self-obsessed superstar.
In Nadikar, Tovino Thomas plays David Padikkal, who rises to superstardom overnight but could never be an actor. The film tracks his journey from superstardom to rediscovering himself as an actor.
At a press meet held on Thursday, 3 May, Tovino stated that he signed the film since he was impressed with the script and storyline. However, the actor clarified that he was never influenced by the character of David Padikkal.
Directed by Lal Jr aka Jean Paul, Nadikar also stars Soubin Shahir, Suresh Krishna, and Balu Varghese in key roles. Bhavana is the female lead.
Senior actor Suresh Krishna also played an important role as Paili (PK) in the Malayalam movie.
Director Ranjith, actor-director Madhupal, and Dhyan Sreenivasan were also part of the film.
