The Malayalam film Footage, featuring Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair, and Gayathri Ashok in the lead, will be released in theatres worldwide on 23 August.
The movie was initially slated for release on 2 August. However, it was postponed as a mark of solidarity towards those affected by the Wayanad landslides.
And now, Footage will vie with Bhavana’s Hunt, Saiju Kurup’s Bharathanatyam, and Haridas’s Thaanara. All these films are also hitting the screens on 23 August.
Announcing the new release date on social media, the makers of Footage also promised a “cinematic experience” that will keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.
The intriguing trailer for the film begins with the lead actors Vishak Nair and Gayathri Ashok romancing each other and having some quality time. And then, they face some unforeseen events, which change their lives forever.
The trailer ends with a visibly upset Manju Warrier walking out of a house.
Footage marks the directorial debut of editor Saiju Sreedharan. He co-wrote the film with Shabna Mohammed. He also handled the editing work.
The Malayalam movie is presented by Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap. Further, it is billed as Malayalam’s first Found Footage film.

In an interview with South First, Saiju Sreedharan stated that Footage will offer a different film-viewing experience to the audience.
Saiju Sreedharan is popular for his work in Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 (2019), and Anjaam Pathiraa (2020).
However, the debutant filmmaker added that Footage will be a different film when compared to his previous works. He also revealed that he always wanted to make a film with a new concept and that this (Footage) won’t be easy to watch.
Shinoz cranked the camera for the flick. Bineesh Chandran and Saiju Sreedharan are producers. Rahul Rajeev and Suraj Menon are the co-producers. Martin Prakat Films is the distributor.
