The release of Maju Warrier, Vishak Nair, and Gayathri Ashok-starrer Footage has been postponed due to heavy rains in Kerala. The makers also put off the release as a mark of respect and solidarity towards the people affected by landslides in Wayanad.
The makers of Footage took to social media on 30 July to announce the news about its postponement. They also stated that the news release date would be confirmed soon.
An Instagram post from team Footage read: “Prayerfully with the people of Wayanad who are trembling in the torrential rains and landslides. The release of our film Footage, which was scheduled for August 2nd, has been postponed to another day.”
In an Instagram post recently, Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap shared his happiness in presenting this Malayalam movie.
The trailer of Footage begins with a catchy song, with the lead actors Vishak Nair and Gayathri Ashok romancing each other. After a while, the trailer unfolds some untoward events happening in their lives. Manju Warrier appears at the end, walking away from a house.
Footage is considered to be a different film for young actor Visakh Nair, who debuted in the Malayalam industry with Aanandam (2016).
The film marks the directorial debut of editor Saiju Sreedharan, who penned the script along with Shabna Mohammed. Saiju also handled the editing work.
Sajiu Sreedharan made a name in Malayalam cinema with critically acclaimed films like Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 (2019), and Anjaam Pathiraa (2020)—all commercial hits too.
Meanwhile, Footage is the first found-footage film in Malayalam. The Hollywood classic film The Blair Witch Project (1999) was one such work.
Footage has cinematography by Shinoz. Bineesh Chandran and Saiju Sreedharan backed it, while Martin Prakat Films is distributing it.
