Mani Chittappan is a spin-off of Gaganachari

Suresh Gopi will play the lead role in the upcoming Malayalam movie Maniyan Chittappan, a spin-off of the recently released Gaganachari. A dystopian sci-fi mockumentary directed by Arun Chandu, Gaganachari is running to packed houses across Kerala.

Maniyan Chittappan will also be a part of Arun Chandu’s cinematic universe, which he created through Gaganachari.

On 27 June, the makers shared the first-look motion poster of  Maniyan Chittappan, which introduced the titular character played by Suresh Gopi. The poster introduced Maniyan Chittappan as “a crazy mad scientist and wanderer of the cosmos”.

In the motion poster, Suresh Gopi was unrecognisable with a beard, messy hair, goggles, and a space suit.

While the first-look poster piqued the interest of cineastes, expectations started running high for Maniyan Chittappan following Suresh Gopi’s entry into the Gaganachari spin-off.

The actor recently watched the Arun Chandu film and was all praise for the team. Interestingly, his son Gokul Suresh played a key role in it.

When South First contacted Arun Chandu, the filmmaker confirmed that the Maniyan Chittappan is a spin-off. He also stated that Siva Sai, who co-wrote Gaganachari, penned the story for the latest instalment.

Ajith Vinayaka Films, who bankrolled the sci-fi mockumentary, is producing this one too. The film is now available for screening in the GCC countries.

Gaganachari is a pure sci-fi entertainer with an interesting plot. It opened to positive reviews a week ago. It is set against the backdrop of a dystopian model in Kerala and also showcases the alien invasion of Earth.

Aju Varghese, Gokul Suresh, Ganesh Kumar, and Anarkali Marikar’s fabulous performances and unique storytelling worked in favour of the movie. Anarkali Marikar played the alien.

Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi is juggling films and politics. The makers of Varaaham launched the teaser on his 65th birthday, 26 June.

His previous film with director Arun Varma, Garudan (2023), was a successful venture. The actor will next be seen in JSK and Ottakkomban. He is also part of an untitled movie headlined by Mammootty and backed by Mammootty Kampany besides an untitled venture of Sree Gokulam Movies.
