Malayalam actor Baiju Santhosh was arrested by Kerala Police in the early hours of Monday, 14 October for drunk driving and causing an accident at Vellayambalam, in Thiruvananthapuram.
The incident occurred while Baiju was driving from Kowdiar to Manaveeyam Veedhi. His car collided with a two-wheeler and crashed into an electric pole, leaving the vehicle inoperable due to tyre damage. Despite the collision, the two-wheeler rider escaped without injuries.
Museum Police detained the actor at the scene and conducted a medical test, though officials reported that Baiju was reluctant to undergo a blood test.
According to Asianet news, when Baiju refused to undergo a blood test, the attending doctor, submitted a report to the police stating that Baiju smelled of alcohol and was uncooperative with the examination. Baiju was later released on station bail.
According to the police, the accident took place due to drunk driving and overspeeding.
A case has been registered against Baiju under Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code for reckless driving and under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act for drunk driving.

The Malayalam actor was last seen in Nunakkuzhi (2024). He debuted in films in 1981 with Maniyan Pilla Adhava Maniyan Pilla, as a child artist, directed by Balachandra Menon.
