According to the trade website Sacnilk, L2: Empuraan has become the tenth film to enter the 100 crore club, but is the fastest Malayalam film to do so, beating Prithviraj’s Aadujeevitham, which took nine days to enter the elite club.
L2: Empuraan has grossed around ₹40 crore at the domestic box office, while the overseas collection is ₹60+ crore gross.
L2: Empuraan is the sequel Lucifer, a mega-hit that shatters the collection figures big time in 2019.
The actor-turned-director Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial was produced by Aashirwad Productions and helmed by Antony Perumbavoor, a close associate of Mohanlal. Apart from Mohanlal, the film has Manju Warrier, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and others in lead roles.
It was simultaneously released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The makers have also officially announced the third part at the end of the film titled L3: The Beginning.
