Kerala State Film Awards 2024: ‘Aadujeevitham’ wins big; ‘Kaathal-The Core’ is best film

Prithviraj Sukumaran is the best actor. Urvashi and Beena R Chandran shares best actress title. Blessy is the best director.

Kerala State Film Awards 2024 announced

Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) has won big in the 54th Kerala State Film Awards 2024, with the movie clinching as many as nine awards in different categories.

Prithviraj Sukumaran has been declared the Best Actor for his performance in Aadujeevitham. In the film, he played the role of a Kerala migrant worker in a Gulf country struggling to survive in a desert. This is the third time the actor bagged the award.

Filmmaker Blessy won the Best Director for Aadujeevitham. He also bagged the Best Screenplay (adapted) for the movie.

KR Gokul received a Special Jury Award in acting for the same movie. Sunil KS clinched the Best Cinematography award for this Blessy directorial. Resul Pookutty and Sharath Mohan grabbed awards for Best Sound Mixing.

Meanwhile, Urvashi and Beena R Chandran shared the Best Actress title for their performances in Ullozhukku and Thadavu respectively in the 54th Kerala State Film Awards 2024.

Mammootty and Jyotika’s Kaathal-The Core, directed by Jeo Baby, has been chosen as the Best Film.

The Special Jury Award in acting is shared by KR Gokul (Aadujeevitham), Sudhi Kozhikode (Kaathal), and Krishnan (Jaivam).

Gaganachari, which became a success at the box office, also made it big in the awards. The Special Jury Mention award has been grabbed by the experimental movie directed by Arun Chandu.

The 54th Kerala State Film Awards 2024 were announced on Friday, 16 August. Saji Cherian, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, announced the winners at a press meet held in Thiruvananthapuram.

He said 160 films were submitted for the competition of which 35 were selected for the final round.

Hindi filmmaker Sudhir Mishra headed the jury. The jury also included directors Priyanandanan and Lijo Jose Pellissery, cinematographer Alagappan N, writer N S Madhavan, actor Ann Augustine, and composers Sreevalsan J Menon and C Ajoy.

It was informed that there are no awards in the Best Children’s Film category as the entries were good enough for the awards.
