Joju George announces ‘Pani 2’ after first film’s success

Actor-director Joju George, after scoring a hit with his debut directorial Pani, on Monday, 5 May, announced that the second part of the franchise is also on cards.

Sharing the news on his social media, Joju George announced that the scripting process of the film is completed, and shooting will start in December.

The Instagram post read: “My Next, new Story, new places. New characters #PANI 2 coming soon.”

The actor director announced that the next venture, though is part of the franchise, the second part will have new characters and places.

The 2024 film Pani, which has been produced with a substantial budget, took a year to complete and was shot over 110 days. It was released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.

Abhinaya, a well-known hearing and speech-impaired actor starred as the female lead, with Joju George playing the role of Giri. The cast also included former Bigg Boss stars Sagar, Junais, and singer Abhaya Hiranmayi, along with Prasanth Alex, Sujith Shankar, 60 newcomers, and thousands of junior artistes.

Pani featured music by Vishnu Vijay and Sam CS, with cinematography by Venu ISC and Jinto George.

The film is produced by M Riyaz Adam and Sijo Vadakkan under Joju George’s Appu Pathu Pappu Productions, AD Studios, and Sree Gokulam Movies.

The film follows Giri, a don in Thrissur, whose gang includes his wife and friends. Trouble begins when two youngsters, Don and Siju, commit a murder and one of them molests Giri’s wife. A revenge drama unfolds as Giri’s gang retaliates, but the youngsters fight back, targeting his allies. Despite a familiar plot, the film impresses with style and performances.
