Exploitation in cinema: Honey Rose says calls for accountability

Malayalam actor Honey Rose has asserted that individuals responsible for sexual misconduct and exploitation in the film industry should be punished. She emphasised that such individuals must face consequences and that investigations must move in that direction.

Further, Honey Rose noted that she has not encountered any exploitation while working on her films. She also mentioned that she was unaware of any issues occurring on the sets of her movies.

The actor made these comments after attending a film event. Honey Rose established her own production house, Honey Rose Varghese Productions. On 5 September, she celebrated her birthday and discussed her new production venture.

On her Instagram page, Honey Rose shared a message expressing her sense of duty and destiny in taking on a larger role within the industry.

“A dream, a vision, a venture. Cinema is a dream, a fantasy, and an aspiration for many, and for me, it feels like a blessing to have been a part of the industry for almost 20 years. Cinema has played a big and beautiful part in my youth, my life, my learnings, my friendships, and more, that I feel like it is my duty and my destiny to also take on a bigger role in my connection to this industry,” her post read.

She further added, ” On my birthday (and Teachers’ Day), with a heart filled with gratitude, I would like to unveil the logo of my new venture, Honey Rose Varghese (HRV) Productions. I have always felt humbled by the love I have received from cinema lovers, which has given me the chance to essay some amazing characters. I would request and hope that this support will continue. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me on my journey.”

Honey Rose also announced that her production house will provide opportunities for new talent and filmmakers.

Honey Rose acted in both Malayalam and Telugu films. Her upcoming Malayalam movie is Rachel, where she will play the title role. Last year, she appeared in Veera Simha Reddy (Telugu), Pookkaalam, and Rani: The Real Story.
