Dulquer Salmaan to distribute Malayalam version of ‘Paradha’

Dulquer Salmaan to release Paradha in Malayam

Actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films has bought the distribution rights of the Malayalam version of Anupama Parameswaran starrer Paradha.

A multi-starrer film featuring Anupama, along with Darshana Rajendran and Sangeeta Krish is being directed by Praveen Kandregula, who gained recognition with his debut film Cinema Bandi (2021).

Paradha is being bankrolled by Anand Media and is a Gopi Sundar musical. The story was penned by Poojitha Sreekanti and Prahaas Boppudi. Mridul Sujit Sen is the cinematographer. Vanamali is the lyricist.

A few months ago, Wayfarer Films distributed another Telugu film, the Kiran Abbaravam-starrer thriller KA (2024) in theatres across Kerala.

Sharing the news on X, the production house wrote: “The special journey just got even more special. We are delighted to have the Lucky Dulquer Salmaan bringing #Paradha in Malayalam to audiences worldwide through Wayfarer Films.”

Mystical thriller

On Wednesday, 22 January, the makers released a teaser of the film, which begins with a woman saying, “Is she mad? She is spending ₹70 lakhs to die in some far-away place.” The teaser further showcased the three women on a road trip. Anupama is seen wearing a dupatta—Paradha— over her head all the time.

Halfway through the teaser, the scenes change from light-hearted to serious and mystical.

The teaser has been released in both Telugu and Malayalam.

Darshana Rajendran who has made her mark in the Malayalam film industry with films like Hridayam and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, will now debut in Telugu with Paradha.

Speaking with the media on Wednesday, Praveen Kandregula, said that despite the story being fictional, the audience will be able to relate to the events of the film.
