‘Big Dawgs’ hitmaker Hanumankind to make acting debut in Aashiq Abu’s ‘Rifle Club’

The script, written by Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Nair, and Sharaf-Suhas, reunites the team behind the acclaimed 'Mayaanadhi' (2017).

Rapper Hanumankind, who gained international fame with his hit English song “Big Dawgs”, is set to make his acting debut in Aashiq Abu’s upcoming film, Rifle Club.

In this Malayalam movie, the Bengaluru-based artist will portray Bheera, the volatile son of a character played by Anurag Kashyap.

The film’s poster, shared by Abu on Instagram, shows Hanumankind with a gun in hand, announcing, “Introducing @hanumankind as Bheera. #RifleClubMovie hitting theatres soon!”

Real name Sooraj Cherukat, Hanumankind rose to global prominence after “Big Dawgs” was released on 10 July, amassing over 57 million views on YouTube and ranking number 4 among global top music videos. The song, noted for its political lyrics on identity, is set against a carnival-themed music video directed by Bijoy Shetty and produced by Kalmi Reddy.

“Big Dawgs” has resonated both in India and internationally, gaining traction in Germany, the US, Canada, and the UK, as well as in Chennai, Bengaluru, Thrissur, and Mumbai. His music connects with socially conscious listeners, addressing themes from identity politics to personal struggles.

The track merges desi elements with Western arrangements, featuring punk energy and strong drum beats.

 Beyond its commercial success, “Big Dawgs” has cemented Hanumankind as a trailblazer in global music. The song’s YouTube logline highlights its audacity: “Pushing culture baby, got that product you can’t measure.”

Rifle Club stars Dileesh Pothan, Vani Vishwanath, and Anurag Kashyap. The script, written by Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Nair, and Sharaf-Suhas, reunites the team behind the acclaimed Mayaanadhi (2017).

The cast also includes Darshana Rajendran, Win C, The Baby Jean, Vishnu Agasthya, Surabhi Lakshmi, Ramzan Muhammed, Vijayaraghavan, and Unimaya Prasad. Rex Vijayan composed the music, and Aashiq Abu, who also serves as the cinematographer, produced the film alongside Vincent Vadakkan and Vishal Vincent Tony under OPM Cinemas.
