Asif Ali's next is with director Thamar KV

Malayalam actor Asif Ali is teaming up with director Thamar KV for an untitled movie.

They revealed the news about the film on their respective social media handles on Monday, 24 June.

Sources said Thamar KV’s upcoming movie with Asif Ali will be a feel-good entertainer. However, more details about the venture are awaited.

Thamar KV has been working in the advertising industry in Dubai for over a decade.

He made a mark in the Malayalam industry with his debut directorial Aayirathonnu Nunakal (1001 Lies). It was released directly on SonyLIV in 2023.

Besides winning critical appreciation for its storyline, writing, filmmaking, and performances, the film won the hearts of the OTT audience, too.

Before its OTT debut, the movie was screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in December 2022, where it won accolades.

In an interview with South First, the filmmaker said, “The (1001 Lies) team initially feared that the audience at the IFFK might think it to be a copy of 12th Man (Mohanlal’s 2022 release with a similar story). But we were elated with the response.”

Asif Ali’s forthcoming movies

Asif Ali is currently shooting for an untitled film under the direction of Jofin T Chacko, who debuted with Mammootty’s The Priest (2021).

The flick is produced by Venu Kunnappilly’s Kavya Film Company and Anto Joseph’s Ann Mega Media. The story is written by Jofin and Ramu Sunil. The screenplay is penned by John Manthrikal.

It stars Anaswara Rajan, Zarin Shihab, and Manoj K Jayan in pivotal roles.

At the promotional event, Asif Ali told the media that the (Jofin T Chacko) film would be an important project in his career. “It was supposed to take off much earlier but was delayed due to some reason,” he added.

The Malayalam actor recently did a cameo in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Varshangalkku Shesham (2024).

He also shared the screen with Biju Menon in Thalavan, directed by Jis Joy. The film is a commercial success. The Asif Ali-Jis Joy’s combo worked wonders in theatres and gave the actor a much-needed break in his career.

Meanwhile, Asif Ali has some interesting projects lined up for release in future, including Arfaz Ayub’s Level Cross, debutant filmmaker Nahas Nazar’s Adios Amigos, Rohit VS’s Tiki Taka, and Sethu Nath Padmakumar’s Abhyanthara Kuttavali.
