‘All We Imagine as Light’ wins Best Film Award at Asian Film Awards. (X)
The Grand Prix winner All We Imagine As Light has added one more feather to its cap. The Payal Kapadia directorial after losing out at the Oscars and Golden Globes, bagged the top award at the Asian Film Awards, held in Hong Kong on Sunday, 16 March.
Payal Kapadia was nominated for Best Director but lost to Daihachi Yoshida, the director of Teki Cometh. While, All We Imagine as Light stars Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, Shahana Goswami won Best Actress for Santosh, and Yang Kuei-mei won Best Supporting Actress for Yen and Ai-Lee.
The Asian Film Awards Academy wrote on X: “AFA18 Best Film—All We Imagine as Light.” They also shared a photo of the director accepting the award.

Sight and Sound magazine has named All We Imagine As Light the best film of 2024. The film was named the Best International Film at the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC).
Apart from this, All We Imagine As Light also won the Best International Feature trophy at the reputed Gotham Awards 2024.
On 20 December, Payal Kapadia received the Spirit of Cinema Award from the Kerala government at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Instituted at the 26th IFFK, the Spirit of Cinema Award celebrates filmmakers who use cinema to challenge oppression.
“All We Imagine As Light is a daring and sincere movie from Payal Kapadia that speaks about the lives of three working-class women in Mumbai. The movie is realistic to its core and is definitely a masterpiece,” our review read.
