The makers of Ajayante Randam Moshanam, Tovino Thomas’s upcoming movie, are facing allegations of financial fraud following which the film’s release has reportedly been postponed.
According to reports, the planned theatrical, OTT, and satellite release of Ajayante Randam Moshanam have been put on hold until further orders due to financial fraud accusations.
Vineeth, a Kochi-based resident, filed a petition alleging that the invested ₹3.20 crore in Ajayante Randam Moshanam‘s production. However, the makers denied his ownership rights and the same were allegedly transferred to another party without his consent.
Following this, the Ernakulam Principal Sub Court issued a stay order, which led to the indefinite postponement of the film’s release. The big-budget movie was scheduled to hit the theatres for Onam this year.
Ajayante Randam Moshanam is directed by debutant Jithin Laal. It is a 3D action adventure that spans several timelines. The film is scripted by Sujith Nambiar and it has an additional screenplay by Deepu Pradeep.
In the film, Tovino Thomas appears in three different roles—Maniyan, Kunjikelu, and Ajayan. Each role is set in different eras: 1900, 1950, and the 1990s.
The movie marks the debut of Krithi Shetty in Malayalam cinema. It also casts Aishwarya Rajesh, Surabhi Lakshmi, Rohini, Basil Joseph, Jagadish, and Harish Uthaman in important roles.
Surprisingly, several cases of financial fraud have been reported in the Malayalam film industry in the recent past. Sadly, these accusations came at a time when Malayalam cinema finally registered a profitable business in the first half of 2024.
The Enforcement Directorate sought legal advice to freeze the bank accounts of the producers and distributors of the blockbuster movie Manjummel Boys (2024) after the police confirmed financial fraud.
Recently, the producers of the blockbuster film RDX (2023) reportedly lodged a civil suit against its director Nahas Hidayath and demanded over ₹1 crore in compensation. Producer Sophia Paul and her company Weekend Blockbusters alleged that Nahas breached his contract.
There are also allegations against the Malayalam producers of inflating ticket collection figures for money laundering purposes.
