The release of Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s next, Adios Amigo, has been postponed in the wake of Wayanad landslides.
The Malayalam film was slated for release on Friday, 2 August. However, the makers decided to postpone the release date of Adios Amigo as a mark of respect towards the people who lost their lives in the deadly landslides in Kerala.
The makers took to social media to announce this decision. The post read: “As we cope with the incessant rains and the calamity that has struck Wayanad, our hearts go out to the families and loved ones who have suffered unimaginable loss. This is a time of immense grief and sorrow, and we stand in solidarity with those affected. We know that this tragedy has impacted all of us deeply in one way or the other, hence we would like to postpone the release. Our thoughts are with those affected by this calamity. Stay safe.”
Earlier on Tuesday, 30 July, the makers of Footage, headlined by Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair, and Gayathri Ashok, also postponed the release of the movie. It was supposed to hit the theatres on 2 August.
As a result, no Malayalam movies will be released this Friday (2 August). Since there are many releases in August, it is to be seen how the theatres will accommodate the new films in the coming weeks.
If the postponed films—Footage and Adios Amigo—are released this month itself, then there will be an overflow of releases in cinema halls.
Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu have joined hands for the first time for Adios Amigo. As a result, the film is drawing huge expectations among movie buffs.
Meanwhile, the posters, teasers, and trailer built anticipation among fans and promised that Adios Amigo would be a wholesome entertainer.
Both Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu assured their venture would be a fun-packed entertainer.
Nahaz Nazar debuts as a director with this Malayalam film. The script was written by Thankam and the project was produced by Ashiq Usman.
Adios Amigo also features Shine Tom Chacko, Anagha, Ganapathi, Althaf Salim, Jinu Joseph, Salim Hassan, Muthumani, and Riaa Saira in prominent roles.
Anagha was last seen in Grrr, which was released in June this year. It had Kunchako Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles.
The cinematography was handled by Jimshi Khalid and the editing by Nishadh Yusuf. The music was composed by Gopi Sunder.
