Abhinav Sundar Nayak's next is Mollywood Times

Abhinav Sundar Nayak’s directorial debut movie, Mukundan Unni Associates (2022), created waves in the Malayalam industry.

The film, a dark comedy, was a huge success at the box office.

In the flick, Vineeth Sreenivasan appeared as Mukundan Unni, an advocate who adopts cunning strategies to succeed in his cases and his life.

The film became a sleeper hit and helped Abhinav carve a niche for himself in Malayalam cinema.

Abhinav Sundar Nayak worked as Vineeth Sreenivasan’s associate director before debuting as a filmmaker. He is an editor, too.

However, Mukundan Unni Associates also won negative comments from industry insiders. Actor Idavela Babu opined that the film gave away wrong ideas to people through the court cases.

Nevertheless, the director has won a separate fan base in Malayalam.

Against this backdrop, Abhinav Sundar Nayak shared the details of his new movie, titled Mollywood Times, on his Instagram handle.

The Instagram post of Abhinav Sundar says, “Mollywood Times is the ultimate movie about movies and which is slow-cooked to perfection. “

Mollywood Times is about Malayalam cinema

The film has a quirky tagline: “A Hate Letter to Cinema”.

The title and the tagline hint that Mollywood Times will be about Malayalam cinema. If that’s the case, this would be the new addition to the theme of “inside cinema” after the recent hits — Varshangalkku Sesham and Nadikar.

Produced by Ashiq Usman under his banner Ashiq Usman Productions, Mollywood Times will be released in 2025.

The movie casts young actor Naslen in the lead role. He is now busy shooting for a sports drama directed by Khalid Rahman.
