Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj was injured on Tuesday, 24 October, during an unprecedented rush at the Aroma Theatre complex in Palakkad.

Vijay fans and movie buffs assembled in the compound of the Aroma complex which houses three screens.

Even though security was arranged by Gokulam Movies, distributors in the theatre complex, there was an unstoppable crowd to see the director.

Lokesh Kanagaraj injured his leg during the rush even as the police used mild lathi-charge to control the people who broke the restrictions. An injured Lokesh Kanagaraj cancelled his other theatre visits at Ragam Theatre in Thrissur and Kavita Theatre in Ernakulam, which were scheduled for Tuesday.

He has been hospitalised after the incident.

The director wrote on the X platform that due to a small injury in the crowd, he couldn’t make it to the other two venues. He also said that he would meet the press which was supposed to be held in Kochi on Tuesday, on another day.

The director was earlier scheduled to visit the theatres in Kerala on Monday, 23 October, but was cancelled.

Lokesh Kanagaraj returned back to his house in Coimbatore after receiving treatment from a private hospital in Palakkad, Krishnamoorthy, an official of Gokulam Movies said.
