Keerthy Suresh in Mahanati

As Keerthy Suresh turned a year older on Tuesday, 17 October, people from across the film industries — down in South and Bollywood — extended birthday greetings to the actor on Twitter.

Fans kept sharing reels from her films; the popular scenes from her highly acclaimed movies like Mahanati (2018) started doing rounds from the early hours of the day on social media.

After making her presence felt with her eponymous character of the veteran star of the Telugu silver screen Savitri, Keerthy Suresh never turned back and kept doing more films in Telugu.

Though her performances in Miss India (2020), Good Luck Sakhi (2022), Rang De (2021), Sarkaru Vaari Paata (2022), Dasara (2023), and Bhola Shankar (2023) haven’t been raved about, as much as her role in Mahanati, the movies brought her closer to Telugu audiences.

With an infectious smile as her armour and grace with which she carries herself, Keerthy Suresh is one of the leading and busiest stars in South India.

Here are the top performances that she delivered on the Telugu silver screen:

Dasara

Her character Vennela earned praise in Nani’s Dasara. This Srikanth Odela directorial is about the story of three friends in the coal mining town of Singareni Collieries.

Vennela and Dharani (Nani) are childhood friends. How does the clash between the son of the village head and the section of villagers lead to chaos? How do Dharani and Vennela face the consequences of the unrest in the village? — form the story.

Keerthy Suresh won accolades not only for dubbing her lines but also for acing the Telangana dialect — a cumbersome task for any outsiders.

Bhola Shankar

Starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, Bhola Shankar came with massive expectations. Keerthy Suresh played Chiranjeevi’s sister Mahalakshmi.

An attempt to weave a compelling story invariably fell flat because of the poor screenplay. The series of flashback scenes between Shankar and Mahalakshmi were not convincingly portrayed in the film. But Keerthy Suresh still earned praise for her performance.

Rang De

The actor portrayed the role of Anupama in Rang De starring Nithiin. Directed by Venky Atluri, the film received mixed response at the box office.

The lead characters, Anu and Arjun (Nithiin), struck a chord with audiences with their neat characterisation. How the couple moved abroad and the love-hate relationship between Anu and Arjun was perfectly transformed onto the screen.

Sarkaru Vaari Paata

C’mon C’mon Kalavathi” is the only song that augured well for Keerthy in Sarkaru Vaari Paata. This popular single featuring Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu and Keethy Suresh was raved about as much as Mahanati.

The single crooned by Sid Sriram and the lyrics rendered by Ananta Sriram is one of the top chartbusters in Telugu music. Keerthy Suresh played the role of Kalavathi while Mahesh Babu is a finance agent Mahi in the film.

The film registered as one of the biggest commercial blockbusters in Tollywood as it earned the makers a whopping ₹230 crore.
