Celebs extend warm wishes to the ‘Paruthiveeran’-actor; shooting of Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ resumes; mishap on ‘Mark Antony’ sets.
Karthi made his debut in the Tamil film industry with the blockbuster hit Paruthiveeran, which was released on 23 February 2007. Many Kollywood celebrities took to social media to congratulate the actor for achieving this milestone with the hashtag #16YearsofKarthiism.
The film not only kicked off Karthi’s career but also earned national recognition, thanks to Priyamani’s performance. Since then, Karthi took up quite many challenging roles in various projects.
Although these films did not fare as well at the box office, the actor persisted and eventually found success with movies like Biryani, Madras, and Komban.
Thozha/Oopiri, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film with Nagarjuna helped him gain popularity among Telugu audiences, too.
Karthi’s worked in a variety of genres – from action thrillers like Theeran Adhigaram Ondru (2017) to family entertainers like Kadaikutty Singam (2018). However, it was director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi (2019) that cemented his position as a bankable star in the industry.
In 2022, the actor delivered solo hits with Sardar and Viruman; he also appeared in the multi-starrer flick Ponniyin Selvan-1. The second part of the blockbuster is expected to release soon.
Meanwhile, Karthi is currently busy with Raju Murugan’s Japan. The sequels of Kaithi and Sardar are in the pipeline.
Rajinikanth has arrived in Mangalore to resume the shooting of his upcoming movie Jailer. The shoot is expected to continue for a week or more.
The shooting came to a halt after Rajinikanth took a break to participate in the Maha Shivratri festivities and the Sathabhishekam ceremony (completion of 80th year) of his elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad in Bangalore.
However, the superstar extended his break and visited Chennai to offer his final tributes to comedy actor Mayilsamy who passed away on 19 February.
Due to his prior film commitments, Rajinikanth was unable to fulfil the late actor’s request to visit the Meghnad Eswarar Temple in Kelambakkam for a special occasion.
Had the happiness of celebrating the 80th birthday of my brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad and the 60th birthday of his son Ramakrishna on the same day with my family … felt blessed to shower gold on this golden heart which made me who I am today 🙏🏻 thankful to god. pic.twitter.com/s8npLIzjHG

Adhik Ravichandran’s directorial debut Mark Antony created a flurry of activity on social media on Wednesday, 22 February, after the video of a lorry careening out of control onto the bustling set went viral.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the mishap and all the team members were safe.
Actor Vishal put up the video on his social media account explaining how the crew had a close shave on the sets. Mark Antony features Vishal and SJ Suryah in the lead roles. Vishal Film Factory is bankrolling it.
Suryah, who was also present at the shoot, thanked God and explained in his post that the lorry accidentally veered off course and caused the mishap. Had it continued on its intended path, both the actors would not be alive, he added.
This is not the first time that an accident occurred on the sets of Vishal’s film. Previously, he sustained a knee injury while shooting for Mark Antony and suffered multiple injuries while filming Laththi and Veeramae Vaagai Soodum.
Jus missed my life in a matter of few seconds and few inches, Thanks to the Almighty
