'UI' to release on 20 December. (X)
Kannada actor-director Upendra’s next big release UI now has a release date. The film directed by the actor himself is set to hit the screens on 20 December.
Upendra’s last directorial effort was the 2015 film Uppi 2. UI features Upendra in the lead. It is produced by G Manoharan and Sreekanth KP under Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers. The movie will be released in eight Indian languages.
Sharing the release date, Upendra wrote on X, “All these days you watched the movies and decided weather it’s a hit or a flop. This movie will watch you and….”

UI‘s first-look teaser gave a glimpse of Upendra’s avatar along with the introduction of the UI world (dystopian) to the fans, including the other characters played by Sadhu Kokila and Ravi Shankar.

The film, which has a musical score by Ajaneesh Loknath, stars Reeshma Nanaiah as the female lead. With Ravi Shankar and Sadhu Kokila set to feature in supporting roles.
According to a Cinema Express report, Upendra in a media interaction mentioned, “People always say I put ideas in people’s heads. But in UI, I will work to remove the thoughts from people’s heads.”
Upendra finished the dubbing for the film in February 2024. With not many high-budget films set for release, UI promises to be a cinematic spectacle to watch out for.
