Kannada actor Upendra, who is currently promoting his film 45, alongside Shivarajkumar, on Tuesday, 15 April, spoke about his role in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie.
Answering a reporter’s question, while interacting with the media, Upendra hinted that he will be having a combination scene with Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan and Nagarjuna.
The magnum opus Coolie, set to release on 14 August, boasts a star cast of Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Reba Monica John, and Pooja Hegde alongside Rajinikanth, Amir Khan, Upendra, and Nagarjuna.
While the other cast members have been officially locked in, the production house has not yet officially announced that Amir Khan is part of the film.
However, Lokesh, recently shared a photo with the Hindi actor from what seemed like the sets of Coolie.
Upendra shared, “Lokesh Kanagaraj came to me with the story without me even asking—I’m truly humbled to work alongside Rajinikanth. I see him as a Dronacharya, and I feel like Ekalavya—grateful to learn from him. His work has entertained many, but for me, it’s been enlightenment.”
When asked about Coolie‘s star-studded cast, including Aamir Khan and Nagarjuna, Upendra smiled, nodded, and hinted that he shares combination scenes with both legendary actors.

Touted as a gangster action film, Coolie will feature action sequences choreographed by the renowned Anbariv duo. The film is a standalone project and not part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which includes Kaithi (2019), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023).
Filming began in 2024 July, with Girish Gangadharan as the director of photography, and Philomin Raj handling the editing.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, alongside Chandhru Anbazhagan, has written the dialogues and additional screenplay for the film. The film will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
Meanwhile, the actor has also started shooting for Jailer 2.
The makers announced the sequel with a four-minute teaser, in which, director Nelson and music director Anirudh are seen chilling at Goa. Soon a group of people barge into the house, and a man is attacking them. The man is revealed to be none other than Superstar Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth will reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian IPS in Jailer 2. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to return as Mathew and Narasimha respectively, with new surprise cast additions.
Rajinikanth was last seen in Vettaiyan, in which he plays the role of a police officer, who is an encounter specialist.
