Kannada actor Duniya Vijay joins Puri Jagannadh- Vijay Sethupathi’s project

While the other cast and crew of the film are not yet revealed, the regular shoot is set to begin in June. It will be released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Duniya Vijay joins Puri Jagannadh- Vijay Sethupathi’s project

Kannada actor Duniya Vijay is set to join Puri Jagannadh- Vijay Sethupathi’s pan India project. The actor had debuted in Telugu with Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy (2023).

Earlier the makers announced that actor Tabu had joined the cast, increasing the anticipation.

Sharing the news of the Kannada actor joining the team, the makers wrote: “From the land of Karnataka to the heart of audiences across the nation. Team #PuriSethupathi Proudly Welcomes the Sandalwood dynamo, Actor #VijayKumar on-board for an electrifying role that will leave everyone spellbound. A #PuriJagannadh Film. Duniya Vijay was last seen in Bheema (2024)He is noted for his performances in Chanda (2007), Junglee (2009), Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam (2011), Jayammana Maga (2013), Maasthi Gudi (2017), and Salaga (2021).

The actor-director is currently working on his directorial City Lights, which stars his daughter Monisha alongside Vinay Rajkumar.

Puri Jagannadh’s last directorial, Double iSmart, and his previous film, Liger (starring Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda for Dharma Productions), both failed to perform well at the box office. However, the director is known for films like Pokiri (2006), Idiot, and Badri (2000)

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi’s last release, Viduthalai Part 2, was a successful film. His other recent films, Maharaja (2024) and Merry Christmas (2024), were also appreciated by the audience and critics.

Directed by Nithilan Saminathan of Kurangu Bommai (2017) fame, Maharaja has emerged as the fastest ₹50 crore-grossing movie in Vijay Sethupathi’s career.

Vijay Sethupathi debuted in Telugu with Uppena, where he played the character of the heroine’s father. Unlike most of his contemporaries, he didn’t have any qualms about playing an older character.
