Kannada watchlist: Comedy is the flavour of the season for January 2024

‘Bachelor Party’, 'Upadyaksha', and 'Mafia' are some Kannada films ready to entertain the audience in January 2024.

Challenging Star Darshan’s Kaatera, a real incident-based film directed by Tharun Sudhir, is set to keep the box office churning for the coming few weeks.

While there are no announcements yet on big star movies releasing in January 2024, a couple of much-awaited comedy ventures along with scores of films by newcomers are releasing to entertain the Kannada audience.

Here are the Kannada films that are lined up for release in January 2024.

Bachelor Party

In 2016, the Kannada film Kirik Party became a massive box-office success.

Fast forward seven years, Rakshit Shetty is gearing up to present another lively celebration on screen with Bachelor Party.

While Kirik Party directed by Kantara (2022) maker Rishab Shetty featured Rakshit Shetty and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead, the brand new version of it titled Bachelor Party will feature Diganth Manchale, Yogesh, and Achyuth Kumar in the lead roles.

Directed by Abhijith Mahesh, Bachelor Party is being produced by Rakshit Shetty under his Paramvah Studios banner in collaboration with Amit Gupta.

The film will be released on 26 January 2024.

Upadhyaksha

Sharan Adhyaksha, directed by Nanda Kishore and released in 2014 was an instant success.

The comedy film starring Sharan, Chikkanna, and P Ravi Shankar ran to full houses and is considered actor Sharan’s best to this date. It further cemented the popularity of Chikkanna as a leading comedian in the Kannada film industry.

Adhyaksha was based on the Tamil hit film Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (2013) featuring Shivakartikeyan.

Riding on the popularity of Chikkanna, who played the role of Upadhyaksha in Adhyaksha, comes the Kannada film Upadhyaksha.

It marks the debut of Chikkanna as a hero. Written and directed by Anil Kumar, the film is releasing on 26 January 2024.

Alexa

One more Kannada movie, a murder mystery thriller titled Alexa will hit the screens on the occasion of Republic Day.

Starring Aditi Prabhudeva in the lead, the thriller is directed by Jeeva.

Actor Pavan Tej is paired with Aditi Prabhudeva in Alexa, which is releasing on 26 January 2024.

Mafia

Dynamic prince Prajwal Devaraj will be back as a cop in his latest titled Mafia directed by Lohith.

Actor Aditi Prabhdeva is the female lead, while former Bigg Boss Kannada winner Shine Shetty plays a cop. J Anoop Seelin has scored the music.

Mafia is produced under the banner of Bangalore Kumar Films.

The team is yet to announce the date on which it will be released in January 2024.
