The Malayalam film Thalavan became a sleeper hit and is running to packed houses across Kerala.

It has turned out to be one of the best thrillers that Malayalam cinema has produced in recent years.

Released on 24 June, Thalavan has also become the biggest hit in actor Asif Ali’s career.

It is an impressive investigation thriller, with Asif Ali and Biju Menon’s power-packed performances. The actors played police officers in Jis Joy’s directorial.

Interestingly, Thalavan marks the fifth collaboration of Asif Ali with Jis Joy. Two of their previous films, Sunday Holiday (2017) and Vijay Superum Pournamiyum (2019), were superhits.

Jis Joy, known for his feel-good entertainers, surprised everyone by making an investigative thriller this time. The filmmaker said he had deliberately decided to shift to a new genre as it was his only way to move forward.

In the second week of its release, Thalavan was charted in more theatres.
