The team behind Kalki 2898 AD is pulling out all the stops for promotions, consistently updating their social media platforms with new content each day to maintain high fan anticipation.

Detailing the creative process behind Kalki 2898 AD, the first instalment of a series, titled ‘Prelude of Kalki 2989 AD’ has been released. In the video, director Nag Ashwin describes how the idea for the Prabhas starrer occurred to him.

The director explores how epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana have deeply shaped Indian culture, examining the concept of the four yugas and their conflicts.

Highlighting Kalki 2898 AD’s universal appeal, Nag Ashwin shares how Indian mythological stories and Hollywood classics inspired him to craft a narrative that blends Indian themes with global resonance.

Nag Ashwin said, “Growing up watching foreign films in the comic book genre such as Marvel, Spider-Man, or Star Wars, one often wonders about our superheroes, who are equally heroic and larger than life. The world of Kalki 2898 AD continues the saga from past yugas, leading up to the awaited final battle—an epoch that signals both the beginning of the end and the culmination of these narratives and nine avatars.”

All the battles, whether small or large, that have happened, must conclude at some point. We attempted to encapsulate this in what could be considered the final chapter of our mythology, he added.

Furthermore, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD unveiled a character poster featuring the versatile Malayalam actor-dancer, Shobana, who plays Mariam. Vyjayanthi Movies, the production banner, shared the poster on their social media page with the caption, “Her ancestors waited too, just like her.”

Kalki 2898 AD is scheduled for theatrical release on 27 June. Shobana was last seen in the 2020 Malayalam film, Varane Avashyamund. Written and directed by Anoop Sathyan, the film featured Dulquer Salmaan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Suresh Gopi in key roles.
