In a statement on Tuesday, 27 June, NTR said, “It’s very sad to learn of the incident of Shyam’s death. I express my deep condolences to the bereaved family at this time of sorrow. I’m deeply saddened for not knowing what circumstances could have led to his death. I request the State government to launch a probe into the case.”

Earlier, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu too demanded justice for Shyam’s mysterious death and strongly appealed to the police to launch a detailed probe into the death of the fan.

He further wrote in his tweet, “It has been alleged that YSRCP members are involved in the case. Their involvement must be probed impartially. Let’s ensure transparency and justice is served.”

Meanwhile, director Maruthi commented that fans wouldn’t expect anything except good cinema from their favourite stars, and it is sad to know how a young life is cut short without a reason. Maruthi requested the Andhra Pradesh police and the media to look into the issue.

Actor Nikhil Siddhartha also spoke in favour of the probe.

Meanwhile, as Shyam’s death kept trending on social media, support from various fan groups kept pouring in for the virtual protest on Twitter. NTR’s fans threatened that the reaction towards the government would be different if the case is not probed, or if culprits go scot-free.

Meanwhile, the Konaseema police registered a case of suicide under Section 174. They said the preliminary investigation showed that 20-year-old Shyam was weak in studies and also involved in a love affair.

The cops stated that the youth initially cut his wrist with a blade, which they found in his pocket, and then hanged himself in his house on 25 June. They also ruled out the involvement of YSR Congress Party members in the case.
