Jawan edges out Miss Shetty Mr Poishetty

The new comedy entertainer Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty seems to be waning out due to the box office Tsunami that is stirred up by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.

The film, starring Naveen Polishetty and Anushka Shetty, opened to positive reviews at the box office on Thursday, 7 September. However, the fun dramedy seems to have collected less than what makers had expected. It collected ₹4 crore across the regions in the domestic market (India).

The reason for the sudden fall in collections is attributed to the film’s poor publicity campaign. It is learnt Anushka Shetty, too, distanced herself from the promotions.

Meanwhile, social media users opine that releasing the movie along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is a major setback for the entire crew. Can Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty withstand the storm of Jawan and wait for further days to pick up the pace?

Well, trade pundits predict that the Naveen Polishetty-starrer may see a sudden spike in collections if word-of-mouth picks up.

Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty tells the story of a techie named Siddu who wants to try his luck with the not-so-remunerative profession of standup comedy. He bumps into an NRI named Anvika Shetty who wants to live life going against the norms of society.

How both take their aspirations forward at the same time trying to figure out true love is the story.

Jawan’s clean sweep

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is sweeping the box office irrespective of region. The worldwide collections of the film are pegged at ₹125 crore.

The Telugu version of Jawan is being received exceptionally well in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The tradition of Telugu movie buffs contributing to dubbed films is always massive.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s flick Jailer, too, recently made massive money at the Telugu box office.

Even the numbers of previous films like Rishab Shetty’s Kantara (2022), Kamal Haasan’s Vikram (2022), and KGF 2 (2022) are mind-boggling. So, trade circles predict Jawan is likely to stay here for some time.
