Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor is set to make her Kollywood debut with the sequel to the hit film Paiyaa.

Sources close to the production company — Thirrupathi Brothers — revealed that Janhvi has been cast alongside Arya.

A 2010 action-adventure film, Paiyaa starred Karthi and Tamannah and was an instant success thanks to the onscreen chemistry between the lead actors.

The film’s music by Yuvan Shankar Raja was another factor behind its success.

The movie was so popular that it was remade in Kannada and Bengali. The Telugu dubbed version was titled Awara.

The sequel, being directed by N Lingusamy, will be a pan-Indian film. It is expected that the film will be shot entirely in Dubai.

Lingusamy and Arya have previously worked together in Vettai. Although there were reports that Janhvi was set to make her South debut in a Telugu film, an official confirmation is yet to be made public.

From ‘a parallel universe’

In other news, the recent release of Thalapathy 67‘s launch video has finally put an end to the rumours that the film is not part of Director Lokesh’s Cinematic Universe (LCU).

However, a tweet from producer SR Prabhu, stating that the film is about a “parallel universe” only added fuel to the speculation.

The photo features actor George Maryan, who played a crucial role as police constable Napoleon in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi.

With George’s inclusion, it appears that Thalapathy 67 is indeed part of Lokesh’s LCU.

The team is currently shooting in Kashmir and making rapid progress. Fans discovered the team’s travel itinerary and even uncovered the complete passenger list, which revealed the names of the actors and crew members, including Trisha, Sathyaraj, and Priya.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the film and are eager to see how Lokesh will integrate Vijay into the LCU.

Since the release of Kanagaraj’s hit film Vikram — featuring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil — audiences have applauded the director’s seamless incorporation of characters from Kaithi into the story.

This has led fans to label it as the “Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU)”.

The young director successfully brought over characters from Kaithi but smoothly linked the story to Kamal Haasan’s 1986 film of the same name, Vikram.
