Actors Nithya Menen and Parvathy Thiruvothu announced screenwriter-director Anjali Menon’s upcoming film on social media through their intriguing posts.

On Friday evening, 29 October, the internet was abuzz after Nithya Menen posted the picture of a pregnancy-kit result and a soother on her social media accounts. “And, the wonder begins,” she captioned the post.

Soon, Nithya’s fans/followers engaged in a guessing game and wondered what was going on, given the fact that the actor is unmarried.

The netizens soon realised that the posts were part of a plan to announce Anjali Menon’s forthcoming Malayalam flick, expected to be titled, Wonder Women.

Going by the posts and as per sources, the flick will deal with pregnancy and abortion rights.

Both Nithya and Parvathy worked with Menon earlier in Bangalore Days (2014). The evergreen hit movie transcended language barriers to capture the imagination of movie lovers.

Rajisha Vijayan and Asif Ali are said to be part of the cast. The details will be revealed soon.

Who would bankroll Wonder Women?

Meanwhile, though there is no official announcement, there are conflicting reports about who would produce Wonder Women. It is said that the movie will be bankrolled by Sony LIV or Hombale films of KGF and Kantara fame.

There are also rumours that it will be produced by Anwar Rasheed, who produced two iconic Malayalam films: Bangalore Days (2014) and Premam (2015).

Menon wrote the screenplay for Anwar’s Ustad Hotel (2021). which had Dulquer Salmaan, Thilakan and Nithya Menen in the lead.

It may be noted here that Menon is helming a feature film after four long years. Koode (2018) was her previous movie.

She recently worked on a documentary series, commissioned by the Kerala Government, on eminent Malayalees living outside Kerala.

She also shot a documentary on noted film journalist Udaya Tara Nayar, former editor of “Screen” weekly.
