Kiran Abbavaram is one of the most talked-about young actors in the Telugu film industry. He made his debut in 2019 with Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru, a romantic drama directed by Ravi Kiran Kola.

Kiran turned heads when he morphed into a writer with SR Kalyanamandapam (2021), which won laurels for his acting. By 2022, the actor is already five films old and has three more in production.

Now, Kiran’s Nenu Meeku Baaga Kavalsinavaadini is all set for release in theatres on Friday, 16 September.

And guess what? He is pretty confident about winning the hearts of the audiences. He’s sure that his fans will love his performance in this action-romance drama.

In a candid interview with South First, here’s what Kiran has to say about the film, how his life changed after he entered tinsel town, and how he is handling the criticism/negativity that accompanies the limelight:

Q. Tell us about Nenu Meeku Baaga Kavalsinavaadini. The title is too long and it says that you are the most wanted.

Actor Kiran Abbavaram. (South First)

A. I signed this film much before the release of SR Kalyanamandapam. Right after the release of Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru, I was offered quite a good number of projects. I must say, I felt overwhelmed.

I signed four projects that came to me. Nenu Meeku Baaga Kavalsinavaadini is one of them. This film is not about me, i.e., the hero. Indeed, it is about the heroine and her bond with her father. The story revolves around her. I am just a character and a part of her life.

I believe I’ve narrated many stories from the hero’s point of view. But this time, I wanted to tell a story of someone else. It will be an entertainer and will certainly strike a chord with youngsters.

Q. Now that you are five films old, what kind of scripts are you looking forward to?

A. I like to work for commercial entertainers. Something like the films that Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi and Thalapathy Vijay were part of, that went on to become blockbuster hits and also won the hearts of the audiences.

I have been doing boy-next-door roles and I think people like seeing me that way. But now, I am listening to a variety of scripts and I want to give all the genres a try.

Q. Once in the limelight, actors do get trolled and criticised for their every move or movie’s success/failure. How do you deal with such pressure?

A. What you said is absolutely true. But I am a newcomer and all that I can do is give my best in terms of acting.

My job is to entertain the audience and it is not an easy task to make them sit for over two hours; that too, not just a person, but around 500 people per show. There’s a lot of pressure and nobody understands this.

Entering films without a godfather, and then carving a niche for yourself is not simple. Everything came to me fast and I know that I have to be ready to face the cons: Be it trolling, criticism or failure. But I want to embrace it all with love and only love.

Q. Do you think you’ve competitors in the industry?

A. I never look at work that way. I don’t think of competition at all. I am absolutely fine if someone considers me a worthy competitor. But I want to work in a healthy environment where I can focus on my films and nothing else.

Q. Three major films were announced on your birthday, 15 July. Can you tell us a little more about them?

A. Rules Ranjan with Star Light Entertainment, Meter with Mythri Movie Makers and Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha with Geetha Arts were the projects announced on my birthday. At present, they are all in different stages of production.

My role in Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha is pretty different from what I have essayed till now. It came out really well, and I can’t wait for you all to watch the flick. Meter and Rules Ranjan are mass entertainers.
