International Women’s Day: Women-centric Malayalam films launched

‘B 32 Muthal 44 Vare’, ‘Her’, ‘Rani’, and ‘Neerja’ are the movies that deal with women-centric subjects.

The Malayalam film industry will witness the release of a couple of women-centric projects in the coming few months. Marking International Women’s Day, 8 March, the makers launched first-look posters, lyrical videos, and promotional teasers of their movies.

First look of B 32 Muthal 44 Vare released

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the first-look poster of B 32 Muthal 44 Vare (B 32″ to 44″), an initiative by Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), was launched. The movie is directed by Shruthi Sharanyam.

In a Facebook post, Shruthi Sharanyam thanked and expressed gratitude to the entire crew of 30 women who worked in key roles during the shooting and post-production works for the movie.

The film is bankrolled under a production scheme of the Kerala government’s Cultural department and the state-owned KSFDC. It is all set for release in April.

Remya Nambeeshan, Anarkali Marikkar, Sherin Shihab, Aswathy B, Krishna Kurup, Harish Uthaman, and Sajitha Madathil are playing key roles in it. The movie is directed and produced by Shruthi.

The cinematography is by Sudheep Elamon and the music is composed by Sudheep Palanad. The editing is by Rahul Radhakrishnan.

Lyrical video of Her launched

The forthcoming movie Her focuses on the lives of five women from different backgrounds who meet at a particular point. It is directed by Lijin Jose.

Urvashi, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Aishwarya Rajesh, Remya Nambeeshan, and Lijo Jose are essaying major roles in it.

Guru Somasundaram, Mala Parvathy, Rajesh Madhavan, and Sreekanth Murali are also part of the cast.

The makers released a lyrical video of Her on 7 March, ahead of Women’s Day. The song sung by Sayanora Philip is composed by Govind Vasantha. Anwar Ali’s lines for the song gave reference to women’s empowerment.

According to reports, the film talks about current issues related to women. Archana Vasudev wrote the script. The movie is produced by Aneesh Thomas under the banner of AT Studios.

Shanker Ramakrishnan’s next is titled Rani

Actor-director Shanker Ramakrishnan announced his second movie on 7 March. The first look poster of the film titled Rani was shared on the social media handles of actors, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Unni Mukundan, and Maala Parvathi.

Shankar debuted with Pathinettam Padi in 2018 where Mammootty played an extended cameo.

Rani has an ensemble cast, including Urvashi, Bhavana, Honey Rose, Indrans, Guru Somasundaram, Maniyanpilla Raju, Anumol, and Aswath Lal.

It is produced by Shanker Ramakrishnan and Vinod Menon under Magic Tail Works Productions. Vinayak Golla is the cinematographer and Appu N Bhattathiri is the editor.

The songs are written and composed by Mena Melath.

First-look poster of Neerja out

On International Women’s Day, the first-look poster of Neerja was launched. It is directed by debutant Rajesh R Kannan who also wrote the script of the movie.

Neerja is bankrolled by Uma and Umesh R Reddy under Suraj Production.

The film features Shruthi Ramachandran in the title role. Srinda, Guru Somasundaram, Jinu Jose, and Raghunath Paleri.

The editing is by Ayoob Khan and the cinematography is by Ragesh Narayanan. The music is composed by Sachin Shankar Mannath.
