Rakul Preet Singh has found working on Indian 2 alongside Kamal Haasan to be a deeply fulfilling experience. As she anticipates the film’s release, she expresses a personal connection to her role in the sequel.
Speaking about her role in the Kamal Haasan-starrer, Rakul Preet Singh emphasised that the film is, indeed, a milestone in her career. “It’s not just about the crew I enjoyed working with, but also because of the depth of my character.”
In Indian 2, Rakul Preet Singh portrays a determined and self-assured character who is clear about what she wants.
“I deeply relate to this character in my personal life as well. It’s too early to reveal more details, but working with Shankar sir has been a pleasure, and I’ve crafted this role by incorporating the nuances he shared with me,” she added.

Helmed by Shankar, who also directed the original Indian (1996), the sequel features Kamal Haasan returning as Senapathy.
A former freedom fighter turned vigilante, Senapathy, pursues corrupt individuals whom he believes are abusing the freedom he fought to secure.

In an interview, Rakul Preet Singh acknowledged the opportunity to collaborate with versatile technicians like Shankar and Kamal Haasan early in her career.
“There’s so much to learn when you’re surrounded by such talented individuals—how they conduct themselves on set, their approach to scenes, and the creative process involved,” she reflected.
“It’s one thing on paper, but with the spontaneity and improvisation on set, it transforms into something entirely different,” the Ayalaan (2024) actor stated.
Indian 2 also includes Siddharth, SJ Surya, Bobby Simha, Vivekh, Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Brahmanandam, Samuthirakani, Nedumudi Venu, Delhi Ganesh, Manobala, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, and others in its supporting cast.
Behind the scenes, Indian 2 boasts cinematographer Ravi Varman, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, and editor Sreekar Prasad.
Originally announced in 2017, the film faced multiple production delays. Now, Indian 2 is set for release on 12 July.
