Rakshit Shetty’s Kannada blockbuster Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (Side A) has been making a silent noise in Hyderabad with just a few shows being screened in multiplexes until it became a roar on social media.

The film is released in Telugu as Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati on Friday, 22 September.

Ahed of the release, actor Rakshit Shetty was in Hyderabad city to share his feelings about the film that has been so close to his heart.

“Art has no language, and this film, particularly, only has an expression. I am happy to be here releasing my film in Telugu. This marks my second collaboration with director Hemanth after Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu (2016),” he told the media.

Emerging talent from Sandalwood

Rakshit Shetty recalled how the film happened. “After the success of 777 Charlie (2022), I was eager to explore a love story. And that’s when Hemanth pitched his idea which he kept with himself for 12 long years. I got connected with the concept initially.”

He added, “He has a very unique storytelling style. I felt so proud of such a talent emerging from the Kannada industry. I was genuinely moved after watching his previous work, which led to our second collaboration.”

The actor expressed his confidence that Telugu audiences would love the masterpiece since it has a poetic narration.

A superhit in Kannada

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (Side A) grossed approximately ₹20.30 crore in 14 days after it was released on 1 September across South India. The Kannada original also had an impressive debut at the box office; it made approximately ₹9.34 crore in net earnings.

Featuring the talented duo of Rakshit and Rukmini as the lead pair, the trailer of Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati was recently released by “Natural Star” Nani. It is distributed by People Media Factory.

Divulging more about Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (Side A), Rakshit said, “Initially the film was conceived as a single film. But director Hemanth decided to split it into two parts as the story naturally got stretched. The poetic nature of the movie slowly emerged during the process of shooting.”

He added, “The first part expresses Indian classical poetry and the second part adopts a rock band-poetry style as it reflects the evolving emotions between the two central characters — Manu and Priya.”

Explaining the craze for Telugu cinema in his native State of Karnataka, the actor recalled his childhood days of watching Telugu films on VCR tapes, months after the release of the flicks.

“Telugu films are highly appreciated in Karnataka. Many families made it a tradition to watch a film every weekend. As a child, I had fond memories of watching Telugu films on VCR tapes,” Rakshit Shetty noted.

He added, “It was during my engineering days, with a roommate from Kurnool that I discovered more Telugu films like Vedam (2010). This experience made me realise that such movies resonate well with audiences even going beyond the commercial genre.”

Rakshit Shetty felt that he has a greater sense of responsibility now to create films that resonate with a global audience.

“Historically, Kannada films didn’t expand beyond the regional market compared to other South Indian films. Fortunately, the industry is slowly picking up, making the heads turn with its quality content. I am sure we can tap into more opportunities. We need more filmmakers to contribute to the growth of Kannada cinema,” he added.
