Iconic SS Rajamouli films to be screened at Beyond Fest 2022

As part of the nine-hour movie marathon, he will be present at the screening of RRR, Eega and Baahubali 1&2. He will also participate in a question-and-answer session.

Further, the filmmaker will introduce a black-and-white 35mm screening of Charlie Chaplin’s 1931 silent classic City Lights, according to a statement put up on Beyond Fest’s website.

In the release, Grant Moninger, Director of Programming at American Cinematheque, said: “As the filmmaker’s exhibitor, the American Cinematheque is thrilled to present the larger-than-life films of SS Rajamouli on the biggest and best screens in Los Angeles. Rajamouli’s work encompasses all that is great about cinema and the shared theatrical experience.”

The blockbuster hits of Rajamouli will be screened in Telugu with English subtitles under the name “From Tollywood to Hollywood: The Spectacle & Majesty of SS Rajamouli”.

The tickets have been available on American Cinematheque’s portal since 8 September.

• Maryada Ramanna (2010): 23 October at MUBI Theater, Aero (10.23)

This will be the first-ever appearance of the filmmaker at an American film festival. Meanwhile, he is likely to deliver a keynote address at the Toronto International Film Festival.

It’s only recently that Rajamouli’s RRR bagged three nominations in the prestigious Saturn Awards 2022. The magnum opus, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was selected in the categories of Best Action/Adventure Film, Best Film Direction, and Best International Film.

The winners of the Saturn Awards will be declared on 25 October. The award ceremony will be live-streamed on the Electric Now app.

All about Beyond Fest

A feature film festival, Beyond Fest is hosted every year in Los Angeles from mid-September to mid-October. This year marks the 10^th anniversary of the prestigious event.

It is touted to be the most-attended genre film festival in the US, and has been organised in partnership with American Cinematheque and Death Waltz Recording Co.

This year, the Beyond Fest partnered with American Cinematheque, IFFLA (Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles), IMAX, Variance Films and Potentate Films.
