Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur at The Family Star pre-release event

Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s The Family Star is in the news because of the buzz it created among the moviegoers. The upcoming Telugu film is breaking the internet, thanks to the promotional activities.

KU Mohanan is the cinematographer. Marthand K Venktaesh is the editor.

Ahead of its release, the film team hosted a grand pre-release event in a private college in Hyderabad on Tuesday night, 2 April. The lead pair, Vijay and Mrunal, caught the attention of all by entering the event venue on a motorbike.

Addressing the gathering at the pre-release event, Vijay Deverakonda recalled that during the promotions of Yevade Subramanyam (2015) and Pelli Choopulu (2016), he promised to deliver a ₹100-crore grosser. The actor achieved the milestone with his fourth film Geetha Govindam (2018) under the direction of Parasuram in 2018.

“The audience loved Geetha Govindam so much. I tried to beat its record through my next ventures but in vain. Later, when I announced that I would deliver a ₹200-crore grosser, everyone thought I was arrogant. But I’m confident I’d surely achieve that feat soon,” the Rowdy Star avowed.

Recalling his journey, the actor admitted that he learnt many lessons since Geetha Govindam.

“When Bujji (Parasuram) told me the story of The Family Star, it reminded me of my parents, grandmother, and extended family. Every family will have a star, and I did this to reflect their struggles on the big screen,” he added.

Nobody can play Indu like me: Mrunal Thakur

At the pre-release event, Mrunal Thakur thanked the Telugu audience for accepting her as their “Telugu girl” and making her Sita Ramam (2022) and Hi Nanna (2023) huge successes.

“But let me tell you, no one can play Indu like me in The Family Star. It’s my second collaboration with producer Dil Raju, and I look forward to teaming up with him again. Gopi Sundar’s music is wow. The ‘Kalyani Vaccha Vaccha‘ song is my favourite. It’s a dream to every girl to work with Vijay and you will love our onscreen pairing.”

Filmmaker Parasuram said his film will be relatable to every person in a family, irrespective of age.

“Vijay and Mrunal owned the film up and delivered a beautiful story. It carries an emotion. The Family Star will be a milestone in Vijay’s career. His hard work to fit into the role of Govardhan will be remembered for several years. Mrunal gave her best to her character (Indu). While working on Parugu as an assistant director, I dreamt of directing a film for Dil Raju’s banner (SVC). I’m glad it came true with The Family Star,” he said.

Producer Dil Raju stated that Vijay’s characterisation will be the highlight of the movie and declared that Mrunal will achieve a hat-trick with The Family Star.

At the end of the pre-release event, the makers launched the fourth single from the flick, “Dekhore Dekho“. It is sung by Hemachandra and written by Anantha Sriram. The lyrical video is trending on YouTube.

Meanwhile, the film has been given the “U/A” certificate by the Censor Board. It has a runtime of 2 hours 23 minutes.

Further, The Family Star became the first Indian film to be screened in Uruguay, South America.

The movie is hitting the screens on 5 April.
