Archana Jois will don the role of a journalist in 'Ghost' starring Dr. Shiva Rajkumar; she has two more films lined up for release.
She attained instant stardom as Shanthamma, playing the mother of ‘Rocky’ essayed by Rocking Star Yash in the blockbuster series film, KGF.
Actress Archana Jois was later offered at least a dozen similar ‘mother’ roles. She refused them all.
In an exclusive interview with South First, Archana talks about her latest projects, Ghost, which has Dr. Shiva Rajkumar in the lead, and two other films that are ready to hit the screens.
“Ever since I played the mother’s role in the KGF series, I have been offered similar roles in no less than 10 to 12 films. I never wanted to be typecast, and I humbly refused them all,” Archana reveals.
However, Archana says that she would exclusively play the role of Shanthamma, again and again for Rocking Star Yash’s iconic role of Rocky Bhai in the KGF series.
She adds: “Initially, I would listen to the entire script. When I realise that the role I am being offered is that of the mother, I would say sorry to them. When more such offers came my way, I made it clear that I am looking for diverse roles other than that of mother to save their time as well as mine.”
Her upcoming projects, she says, are equally exciting, especially Ghost which features Dr. Shiva Rajkumar in the lead.
“I play a journalist, and interestingly though a short one, mine is the only female character in Ghost that has her presence throughout the film,” she notes. She clarifies she is not the female lead or heroine.
Politician and producer Sandesh Nagaraj is bankrolling Ghost, being directed by MG Srinivas, under the banner, Sandesh Production.
Nagaraj is also producing another pan-India project in Tamil, Wolf, starring dancing sensation Prabhu Deva in the lead.
The film also marks the debut of Kannada actor Vashishta N Simha, who recently married Kannada actress Hariprriya, in Tamil.
The KGF actress shares that she has already completed shooting for Ghost.
“I was unaware that this film has such a long list of senior actors like Anupam Kher sir, Jayaram sir. It was revealed only yesterday. I feel blessed to be a part of the project alongside such great actors. My only regret is that I do not have combination scenes with Shiva Rajkumar sir in Ghost,” she adds.

Archana has two other films that are ready, Hondisi Bareyiri, which is scheduled for release on February 10, and another one, #Mute which will be released on digital platforms.
She says that Hondidi Bareyiri is about relationships that reflect each one of us in real life.
“As Pallavi in Hondisi Bareyiri, it is about a mature personality. It is through my role, the film goes through a major twist in the tale.”
She signs off by saying that #Mute, which is a psychological thriller, is directed by debutant Prashanth. The film is produced by Mungaru Male fame E Krishnappa.
