Hailing from Varanasi, Shanvi Shrivastava made her acting debut with director B Jaya’s Telugu film Lovely (2012) where she paired up with Aadi Saikumar.

This was followed by a critically acclaimed performance in Adda (2013) alongside Sushanth. Next was Ramgopal Verma’s Rowdy (2014), a political drama alongside Vishnu Manchu.

The same year, her Kannada debut film Chandralekha further established her as a successful actress, leading to back-to-back commercial successes in the film industry.

In an exclusive interview with South First, Shanvi Srivastava talks about her upcoming releases including the one she has recently signed, a women-centric project to be directed by noted filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekar.

“While I have been busy with multiple projects in different languages, the pandemic delayed the releases. Hence, I am excited about 2023 because a few of my projects that I am banking on for their uniqueness will soon hit the screens,” the 29-year-old said.

Her Marathi debut film Raanti alongside Sharad Kelkar is on the floors. Directed by Samit Kakkad, it is an adaptation of the Kannada film Ugramm which was directed by KGF-fame Prashanth Neel.

On Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar’s film

On signing her latest Kannada project to be directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, Shanvi says, “For an actor, every film he or she is involved with is always special but the one I have recently signed for Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar sir’s directorial is extra special.”

“Why I call it an extra special is the reason that I get the opportunity to work with such an acclaimed filmmaker, and then it is the subject of the film which revolves around the female character,” she was excited.

Popular composer Mano Murthy will also be part of Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar’s project. Their combination produced some of the most memorable songs in Sandalwood.

While the title of the film is yet to be announced, the actress reveals that her character is about the journey of a girl of 18-32 years.

“From a school-going girl to being a mother of a child, my character is based on a beautifully written script embedded with varied emotions.”

Like most of Nagathihalli’s films, this one, too, will be mostly shot in the US.

She pointed out that it was not going to be a story revolving around an NRI just because 75 per cent of the film will be shot in the US.

Instead, the film will have a close connection with the office-going crowd. It is all set to hit the floors in February.

About her Marathi debut Raanti, she clarified that though it is an adaption of the Kannada hit film Ugramm, a lot of changes and improvisation have been done keeping the nativity aspects in view.

Shanvi Srivastava also expressed her wish to join the long list of actresses who have worked in all four South Indian film industries.

Her next Kannada film Bang is believed to be an action-packed heist saga that is scheduled for release in the coming months. It is directed by Ganesh Parusharam.

Trishula, an all-star affair with actors like Crazy Star V Ravichandran, and Real Star Upendra in the lead is also gearing up for release in 2023.

That’s not all! Shanvi Srivastava’s first Hindi music album Meethi Meethi with singer Jubin Nautiyal was released four months ago. it clocked more than 37 million views on YouTube alone.

“My Malayalam debut film Maha Veeryar which was released recently earned me critical appreciation. Though I have been getting good offers from Tamil for some time now, the dates have been an issue. Hope my debut in Tamil will also happen soon,” she was all smiles.
