“Everyone is curious if the series Vadhuvu has horror shades. It does not have any horror elements as such. It is a thriller genre,” says Avika Gor.

She explained further, “As you have seen in the trailer, there will be mystery sequences. I have had enough experience with television since a very young age.”

The young actor says Vadhuvu would dish out the content that the small-screen audiences prefer.

“People who like TV content but have not watched OTT till now will definitely like Vadhuvu. I am confident that we will attract that section of audiences with this web series,” the Balika Vadhu actor oozes confidence.

Starring Avika Gor, Nandu and Ali Reza in the lead roles, Vadhuvu is a Telugu family thriller web series which will be premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on 8 December.

The story is about a young bride who marries into a mysterious household and uncovers family secrets.

Avika Gor, who recently turned 24, had a successful run in a Bengali web series before doing Vadhuvu. When she joined the project, she expressed her excitement.

The script was so unique that it immediately grabbed her attention. Notably, the character in the web series is different from the bubbly roles she played earlier, thus offering a unique and distinct experience.

When asked what piqued her curiosity when director Krishna narrated the script, Avika Gor quips, “I found the questions in the story quite interesting. There are many questions in the script as to why such a thing could happen in a mystery thriller.”

She adds, “I felt all of them may seem interesting to the audience on the screen. I’ve watched a few episodes of a Bengali original web series just to know the pulse of it. Had I watched every bit of it, I would probably not have performed naturally, and the suspense in the plot has impressed me.”

When she was just 10, she played the role of Anandi Singh in Balika Vadhu.

“I was so new to showbiz and acting, I had no idea what marriage was. I also had no clue about how a bride should carry herself and behave as a household. All my doubts were addressed by the director then,” she recalls.

Now, she plays a bride again in the web series Vadhuvu. So, how does that feel?

“Becoming an actress at a young age helped me learn everything quickly. I lost my personal life due to this profession, but I enjoy a new life every day on the sets. So far, I have married at least 20 times on-screen,” Avika Gor guffaws.

Nevertheless, the actor never got bored wearing a bridal outfit and has no complaints about playing a traditional Indian bride.

“Since the days of Balika Vadhu, my on-screen marriages have been countless. While shooting for the wedding scene in the first episode of Vadhuvu, I felt like acting for the first time as a bride because I didn’t feel it was repetitive. My knowledge and experience as an actress changed since I became a bride for Balika Vadhu,” the Popcorn actor signs off.
