Prabhas-starrer Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire (2023), which made its theatrical debut on Christmas last year, has achieved the blockbuster feat with impressive collections. It is now being munched by OTT audiences with delight. However, film buffs cite a reason for it.
Recently, Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire was released on Netflix and the response was so overwhelming, particularly in its Telugu version.
The Prabhas-starrer continues to trend at the top globally in the non-English films category. The English version will be released soon.
Meanwhile, the OTT audience is enjoying the various versions and the film registered good viewership.
According to sources from Netflix, Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire has set a record for the number of views it received on the streaming platform. The film’s success on OTT can be attributed to various factors.
Viewers who missed the theatrical release now have the opportunity to experience the Prabhas-Prashanth Neel collaboration on the digital platform.
Additionally, those who watched the movie in theatres are watching it again on Netflix because of its complex narrative and layered storyline.

Prashanth Neel, known for his directorial prowess, has a penchant for intricate storytelling with multiple characters and nuances in his movies.
Netizens opine that the success of the KGF series (2018 & 2022), too, has this pattern. Film lovers say the full depth of the narrative can be understood upon repeated viewings.
Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire follows a similarly intricate narrative structure. The film’s intricate storyline may not be fully understood in a single theatrical viewing. Thus it prompted audiences to revisit it on the streaming service.
This formula has proven effective for Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire and it remains to be seen if Prashanth Neel will employ a similar approach in his future cinematic endeavours.
Just because a movie does well in theatres doesn’t mean it will do equally well on streaming platforms.
Sometimes, popular films may not get as many views on streaming services because a lot of people have already watched them in cinemas.
On the flip side, some movies didn’t do great in theatres but found success when released on digital platforms.
But Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire is a different case study where it has been a hit both in theatres and in the OTT space.
It was a box-office hit by earning over ₹715 crore on a ₹270 crore budget, thus becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2023.
Also, it is the third highest-grossing Telugu film of all time and 11th highest-grossing Indian film of all time
