Actor Sai Pallavi under public scrutiny

Actor Sai Pallavi is in the eye of a storm following the remarks she made at an interview where she was promoting her upcoming film Virata Parvam.

Several reports have claimed that an FIR was filed against her on Thursday, 16 June, in Hyderabad for the remarks. However, that does not appear to be the case.

Inspector P Padma of the Sultan Bazaar Police Station, where the complaint was filed, told South First, “We have received a petition and it’s under enquiry.”

She clarified that this is only a complaint and that no case has been registered yet in this regard.

When a complaint is filed, no investigation is done by the police until the component authority directs the cops to initiate a probe.

In this case, the complaint has been filed by one Akhil, whom the inspector identified as a Bajrang Dal activist.

What happened

Sai Pallavi came under public scrutiny earlier this week for apparently comparing the Kashmiri Pandits’ genocide to the lynching of a man suspected of cow-smuggling.

Asked if she was influenced by politics in life, she replied she comes from a politically neutral family and was brought up to be a “good person”.

She added: “The film The Kashmir Files shows how Kashmiri Pandits were killed. Recently, there was an incident of a person being killed for carrying a cow because he was suspected of being Muslim. After killing the person, the attackers raised Jai Shri Ram slogans. What is the difference between what happened in Kashmir and what happened recently?”

The actor further added that she does not believe in violence as a form of communication.

As the video of the interview went viral, her comments enraged many, while they seemed logical to others.

Reaction on Twitter

Twitter had mixed reactions to Pallavi’s comments.
Some brutally trolled the actor while a few supported her comments and praised her courage.
