The most-anticipated collaboration of Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan — Dunki is out in theatres. However, despite the star power and previous successes of both, the film faced a lacklustre opening and failed to generate excitement among trade experts and fans.

Meanwhile, a few netizens took to X wondering if Dunki signals a decline in the popularity of Rajkumar Hirani.

However, it is argued that the issue lies more in the content of Dunki. Fans complained that the film falls short in exploring deep emotions, which is typically a strong aspect of Hirani’s style of making.

The disappointment is seen as a result of how the movie was made, not a decreasing interest in this type of storytelling.

Dunki stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, Boman Irani, and others in prominent roles.

After the opening day (21 December), there has been a slight dip in the collections. However, the bookings look decent in Hyderabad and other cities down South.

Pritam rendered the music for Dunki. It was produced jointly by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan.
