“Except for the core plot, the entire film is different from NayattuKotabommali PS has been made to feel like an original movie,” says Shivani.

She plays a police constable in the movie.

About her role in Kotabommali PS, Shivani Rajashekar quipped, “My father (Dr Rajasekhar) has done a lot of cop roles earlier. And a few elders in our family were also real-life cops. It was fun taking suggestions from my dad regarding the character.”

The young actor said her father advised her to live in the present moment since it helps her get involved in the character.

“He expects me to behave like the character and not act. I don’t rehearse. That might make me conscious. I imbibed this quality from my father,” she was all smiles.

Shivani revealed that she didn’t watch Nayattu. “I was advised not to watch it because I may get influenced by it. I was told that the Telugu remake has been changed in tune with the Telugu nativity.”

Produced by GA 2 Pictures, Kotabommali PS recently wrapped up its shoot and will be released in theatres on 24 November.

Director Teja Marni, who initially made unsuccessful attempts with Johaar (2020) and Arjun Phalguna (2021) starring Sree Vishnu, will test his luck with Kotabommali PS this time.

“Director Teja watched my Tamil flick Nenjuku Needhi (2022) and approached me for the role in Kotabommali PS. He was apprehensive about whether I could pull off the role in the Telugu adaptation of the Malayalam film Nayattu,” Shivani Rajashekar recalled.

The actress added, “He said the work atmosphere would not be comfortable. I may get to walk without slippers in deep forests. I told him these are the roles I want to do. I played the role of a tribal girl in Nenjuku Needhi. I sported a tribal look with a dull skin tone in it.”

In Kotabommali PS, she acted without makeup to bring a dusky tone. “I was more than happy to get into the zone. I am happy that I landed a performance-oriented role in Telugu after a long time.”

On Lingi Lingi Lingidi

On being part of the chartbuster “Lingi Lingi Lingidi“, Shivani Rajashekar said, “Every artiste dreams of being part of a viral song. I am glad I am part of the chartbuster, ‘Lingi Lingi Lingidi‘ (garnered over 30 million views).”

The actress noted that the song’s success helped with the popularity of her film.

“I thank composer Midhun for the music. The trend is slowly undergoing a shift in Telugu. These days, more than the concept of ‘hero’ and ‘heroine’, people are seeing artistes as characters/actors. Actors are being celebrated for their talent,” she observed.

On working with Srikanth

Sharing her experience working with actor Srikanth in Kotabommali PS, Shivani Rajashekar said, “I have known Srikanth garu for a long time. He is my family friend and my father has known him for many years.”

She revealed that though he was a senior actor, Srikanth tried to give her input during the shoot.

“Being a jovial person, Srikanth garu would cheer everyone up by cracking funny jokes. He can easily get along with any actor and technician with ease. It was a learning experience for me and co-star Rahul Vijay watching such an experienced artiste,” she signed off.
