First-look poster of Mohanlal’s ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ unveiled

The big-budget period drama is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and produced jointly by Shibu Baby and Kochumon John.

Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban is one of the major Malayalam projects that film buffs are eagerly waiting for since its announcement.

On Friday, 14 April, the team released the first look poster of the period drama which brings together Mohanlal and director Lijo Jose Pellissery for the first time. Both have a huge fan base in Kerala.

The poster, featuring Mohanlal in a fiery look and pulling on battling ropes, has already become a sensation online. The actor also sports an iron kada around his neck.

Malaikottai Vaaliban is produced jointly by Shibu Baby and Kochumon John under the banners of John Mary Creative and Century Films and Max Lab.

The film unit recently completed its 77-day shooting schedule at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The rest of the shooting will be held at Gokulam Studios in Chennai in May. Mohanlal will soon join the sets in May after a short vacation.

The post-production will be completed in five months.

Being a much-awaited film, many rumours surfaced about the story and background of Malaikottai Vaaliban. But the producers clarified that the story in the said discussions is not that of the movie.

The film also stars Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Manikandan Achari, and Danish Sait in key roles.

Malaikottai Vaaliban will also be released in other major languages ​​of India apart from Malayalam.

Malaikottai Vaaliban became a hot topic ever since Mohanlal and Lijo Jose Pellissery announced their collaboration for the first time. The director’s latest release is a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual flick with Mammootty — Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam (A Mid-day Slumber).

Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s next movies too are big-budget projects — RAM directed by Jeethu Joseph, Barroz (which marks his directorial debut), and L2: Empuraan directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
