The first look of Suresh Gopi’s upcoming Malayalam movie, Varaaham, was revealed by the makers recently. Directed by Sanal V Devan, known for his work in Kunjamminis Hospital (2023), the poster showcases the star donning sunglasses against a dim backdrop, illuminated by a gentle light that accentuates his facial features.

The promotional material was unveiled by more than 100 celebrities on social media, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Anna Ben, Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith Sukumaran, Dileep, and Unni Mukundan.

Varaaham also features Suraj Venjaramoodu and director Gautham Menon in significant roles. Navya Nair, Prachi Tehlan, Sreejith Ravi, Sarayu Mohan, Indrans, Shaju Sreedhar, and Jaya Krishnan are among the other actors, included in the ensemble cast.

The storyline is written by Jithu K Jayan and Manu C Kumar, the director of Sesham Mike-il Fathima (2023), who is also credited for the screenplay and dialogues.

Rahul Raj composed the music for Varaaham, which features editing by Mansoor Muthutty and cinematography by Ajay David Kachappilly. The film is produced by Maverik Movies Private Limited, in association, with Sanjaypandiyoor Entertainments.

It’s worth mentioning that Suresh Gopi, who recently secured victory in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency during the General elections, has also been appointed as Union Minister of State for Tourism, Petroleum, and Natural Gas.

Of historic success and Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Suresh Gopi made history by clinching the BJP’s inaugural seat in Kerala, a state traditionally governed by the Left.

Kerala notably marked India’s first Leftist government in 1957. Suresh Gopi’s victory offers a notable insight for the Kerala BJP, navigating the tough rivalry between the CPM-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF.

In a tightly contested election, the Malayalam actor secured victory over CPI’s VS Sunil Kumar by a margin of 74,000 votes, with Congress candidate K Muraleedharan also competing.

Reel vs real

During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Suresh Gopi contested from Thrissur under the BJP banner but finished third. Despite this setback, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the BJP and effectively utilised his MP funds for social welfare initiatives, which proved beneficial in the 2024 election.

Renowned for his acting skills and commanding dialogue delivery, Suresh Gopi has consistently demonstrated resilience throughout his film career. His entry into politics represents a notable transformation, considering his earlier association with Communist ideals during college, where he was actively involved with the CPM’s Students Federation of India (SFI).

The actor-politician’s upcoming projects encompass JSK and Ottakkomban, along with a collaboration with Mammootty Kampany, and several other titles under production by Sree Gokulam Movies.
