Filmmaker Mansore has been booked for dowry harassment

The wife of National Aaward-winning filmmaker Manjunath Somashekara Reddy aka Mansore has lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru police against the director and his family members for alleged dowry harassment.

She accused them of subjecting her to both physical and mental abuse.

The Subramanyanagar police have registered a case under various sections, including the Dowry Prohibition Act and IPC sections, based on her complaint.

In her statement, the woman claimed that her family spent approximately ₹9 lakh in cash and ornaments for their marriage in 2021, with a total expenditure of around ₹30 lakh.

She alleged that troubles began when her mother-in-law and sister-in-law started interfering with her marriage life.

Furthermore, the woman stated that her family took a loan of ₹10 lakh to support Mansore’s filmmaking endeavours after the harassment began. His family now demands a luxury car worth ₹30 lakh.

Mansore files counter plea

In response, Mansore has filed a counter plea, asserting that his wife suffers from mental health issues and her brothers are exploiting her to blackmail him.

He alleged physical and mental harassment, including assault against him, his mother and sister.

Mansore denied accepting dowry and readily invited scrutiny of his bank accounts for verification.

He mentioned that his wife had previous consultations for mental conditions.

The city police are expected to serve a notice to Mansore based on the complaint in this regard.
