Filmmaker Hemanth M Rao of Sapta Saagaradaache Ello fame released the trailer of the film Saramsha which marks the return of Lucia (2013) actor Shruthi Hariharan.
Directed by Surya Vasishta, the film is set to release on 15 February.
According to the makers, Saramsha explores the contrasting relationships between two sons and their fathers. Adding to the twist, one son is a writer while the other is a character within the narrative.
The film delves into how their interactions shape one another and ultimately leads to a deeper understanding of their relationships with their father and others in their lives.
Shruthi Hariharan who was last seen portraying the role of a daughter of a former chief minister in Head Bush plays Maya in Saramsha.
“I have been in the industry for ten years but never had the opportunity to play an artist’s role (Maya) on the screen. Surya had narrated the film to me a few years back but when I finally shot it, it was very special since I had my little daughter Janaki at the location with me,” Shruthi shares.
Surya Vashishta, assistant director in films like Tamassu (2010), Lucia, U-Turn (2016), Badmaash (2016), Gantumoote (2019), and Shivaji Surathkal (2020) makes his debut as a director with Saramsha.
Hemanth Rao who released the trailer said that to do a film based on the story about a story writer is a challenging one.
“It’s an interesting space which Surya has attempted to explore,” Hemanth Rao explains while quoting Hemmingway, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
