Just a few days after actor Sarath Babu was “reported” dead by some media — news that eventually turned out to be false as the family soon quashed the rumours — similar news about another senior Telugu actor, Betha Sudhakar, surfaced on social media late on Sunday, 21 May.
South First fell prey to the fake news and published a report by a freelancer about the passing away of the senior actor.
We made the error of believing Facebook posts and messages circulated on social media expressing condolences over the actor’s death, instead of seeking to verify the news with authentic sources.
The moment we discovered our mistake, we took down the story.
We would like to apologise to the actor, his family, and his legion of fans for the egregious error.
We are happy to inform readers that the actor is doing fine and is healthy.
